With this, you will be spending less than $100 (~$50) for a 320GB hard drive which cost $130 on Microsoft's end. Also, the transfer kit (360SATA) is already included with your CK4!
Tools needed:

1.
320GB Western Digital 2.5inch Notebook/Laptop/Mobile HDD (WD3200BPVT Scorpio Blue/BEKT Scorpio Black)
2.
Xbox 360 Pro/Elite Drive Enclosure or
Xbox 360 Slim Drive Enclosure
3.
Hddhackr 1.30 &
320GB Security Sector
4. USB boot disk
5.
360SATA
6. Xplorer360 or
Party Buffalo Drive Explorer
16GB USB support for Xbox 360 coming in April 2010 via System Update to supplement a 320GB hard drive. So do not go out and buy obsolete Memory Units/cards. Although USB support has arrived, Xplorer360 is still needed to backup up the Xbox 1 emulator on Partition 2 and to backup multiple content on Partition 3 at the same time. And if you also experience this message: "This content cannot be transferred over to another device", then you have to buy an official transfer kit available at Xbox.com or you can use the Xplorer360 method explained below regarding the use of 360SATA to act as one. To avoid using transfer kits in the future, make sure to store future protected save game profile data on USB so that you can easily use Party Buffalo to backup your save file onto your desktop or to a different USB drive.
Steps: (Hacking and Flashing)
1. Get yourself another HDD enclosure rather than using your current old one (recommended). Buy a WD3200BPVT or a WD3200B
EKT hard drive. I recommend the B
EKT version because it has 16MB cache and is also 7200RPM. Microsoft original hard drive is only 5400RPM 8MB cache. You don't want to get the BPVT version, since it has the same specs as Microsoft's and could possibly perform much
worse. To utilize your full 320GB efficiently and be sure it is better than your original drive, buy the WD3200B
EKT. If you want to save cash, buy the WD3200BPVT (BEKT version should be same price now). Punch in the hard drive model into
http://www.buy.com/ for your specific country, it comes with free shipping. You can also purchase at Newegg or wherever else.
2. Download Hddhackr 1.30 and the 320GB Security Sector.
3. To make a bootable USB disk, download the
HP Format USB Utility as well as the
MS-DOS system files. Format the drive as FAT32 (not NTFS), lower sized USB drives might need to use FAT/FAT16. You can also download a different utility called
Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool which comes with everything needed already.
4. After you have finished partitioning/formatting your USB boot disk, copy hddhackr.exe and the 320GB security sector (
rename it to
HDDSS.bin) directly into the root of the drive along with the rest of the boot files.
5. Go into the BIOS and allow your computer to boot from the USB upon restart. Also, Hddhackr does not support onboard SATA chipsets such as ATI. Just like for JungleFlasher, be sure you have a VIA PCI SATA card or a compatible motherboard chipset or else Hddhackr will freeze at the beginning and not do anything. Disabling the SATA port in the BIOS and buying a VIA VT6421 PCI SATA card is the only option for ATI users.
6. Hddhackr should appear with a list of devices for you to select after the USB is booted, and after you type in "hddhackr.exe" at the command prompt.
7. Select your WD3200 drive and say Yes (Y) to every prompt. Type in HDDSS.bin if it asks for the security sector. Save the Undo file for restoration purposes and for laptop/PC usage. Call it UNDO.bin
8. Turn off computer, wait 10 secs, and turn it back on. Turn it off again and put the drive into the enclosure. The Xbox should read your new drive as up to ~320GB. Enclosure instructions here -
http://www.tiaowiki.com/w/Install_Western_Digital_SATA_Hard_Drive_to_Your_XBOX_360#Install_the_HDD_into_the_XBOX_360_HDD_Enclosure
9. You drive is now ready to be used inside your 360 or wherever else. It has been preformatted for you already by HDDHackr, so no formatting required and inputting of serial numbers. It will be the same as buying one from a retail store.
10. Read on below: Your newly-installed hard drive still doesn't have the Xbox 1 emulator on it, and still doesn't have yet the previous files located on your old drive as well as the dashboard avatars.
Steps: (Backing up and Transferring saves/games/profiles)
To back up and restore saves, plus the Xbox 1 emulator from the old drive onto the new drive, use the 360SATA device that came with your CK4 kit. It goes right into the hard drive port on the enclosure for the
old drive. It looks like this -

Remember not to use the "Backup/Restore Image" features:
1. Download
Xplorer360 v0.9 b6 Xtreme build 2 to
backup Partition 2 from the old drive (ALL sizes), and to dump/extract your saves and profiles located on Partition 3 for your old drive (20-120GB only) onto your desktop. If necessary, also download
Xplorer360 250GB Edition to do the same (250GB only).
2. Now that everything has been dumped from the old drive, disconnect it forever, turn off computer, connect the
new 320GB drive, and finally
restore Partition 2 using Xplorer360 Extreme again. The next step will now focus on transferring the dumped items from the desktop using X360 320GB Edition onto the new drive.
3. Download
Xplorer360 320GB Edition to restore the saves and profiles you extracted onto your Windows desktop, and then place it on Partition 3 onto your new 320GB hard drive by dragging and dropping. More info available here -

Note: Both Partition 2 (already exists) and Partition 3/$TitleUpdate (if it exists) holds the Xbox 1 emulator. Stay logged into Live while playing an Xbox 1 game to see if any updates pop up for you to download. But you don't have to if you did already copy over the requirements on Partition 3/$TitleUpdate. Also, be sure to just
drag and drop ("dumping/extracting") folders by holding down the left-click mouse button and then releasing it onto your desktop. Xplorer360 will act buggy if you don't.
Also, download the latest compatibility files from any one of these links here:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/9137722/BackCompat_11-2007.zip
http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/1/8/d181ee58-de70-4484-936b-0e9161ccd6b2/BackCompat_11-2007.zip
Unzip and then drag and drop the "default.xex" file (must never be on USB) into your CD-R/RW drive letter in My Computer. Click "Write these files to CD" and burn. Turn on Xbox and insert the disc. Select
Play Game and the compatibility update will be installed to support Xbox Originals. Don't forget to backup/restore Partition 2 and put it on your new drive first.
And lastly, download the avatar and dashboard update -

*New* Party Buffalo Drive Explorer to dump game demos etc. onto any external Xbox 360-formatted HDD/USB drive, or for backup purposes! PBDE replaces USB FatX Explorer and Xplorer360, but obviously not HDDhackr. http://clkxu5.com/drivexplore/Party%20Buffalo.exe (It will automatically download a new version if available)
If you know how to use Xplorer360, then
Party Buffalo Drive Explorer should be quite easy as well. Here is a good guide to understanding the Xbox 360 file/folder layout.
