Just use a multimeter to check for continuity from
needle to needle or
needle to alligator clip, it should
beep if there is continuity (or show up a
changing value).
http://www.tiaowiki.com/forums/xbox-360-hardware-talk/how-to-read-and-dump-key/ Just switch the multimeter knob to the horn symbol and then use the red/black probe.
But you HAVE to make sure connections are correct and everything is attached to the CK3 the right way. Make sure the
SATA cable is plugged in and ensure the
CK3 lights are lit after turning on the computer. There is no way to dump the key unless you can get past Step 9 to 10.
Make sure the
Red pogo pin needle keeps touching the Point B pad before turning on the computer, and hold it there till you can see it detected outside of Windows.
http://www.tiaowiki.com/wiki/images/2/2c/Touch-points.jpg - Ignore Point A, just keep holding down the red cable needle at Point B with the alligator clips attached to the CK3.
If the above doesn't work, then you might have to do this. It looks like you cut the Point A light-green line completely. So you will have to re-fix this line by grabbing a black wire with 2 needles at each end from your kit, and holding it there on the 2 pads. You are going to have to also hold a red wire on the Point B pad to give the drive power with the CK3 turned on.
Before doing this, does the drive get detected without using the pogo pins at all? Or even if you use it? I just want to make sure you cut the traces correctly. The kit came with
6 needles, you can use the black wire and attach 2 needles at the end of the jumpers to re-fix the Point A light-green line. It is going to be very hard to hold multiple wires/needles at once on the PCB. This is so you don't have to solder, and make a mess of the PCB. Also, dumping the key is important just in case you are not successfully rejoining the traces.
