Hello,
Now that we are using digital mixers with iPads and phones, the question of WiFi comes up. The last gig we did was a bit of a problem with the WiFi - it was decidedly flaky and kept dropping devices. We've noticed this getting a little less stable where we rehearse as well. The mixer (QSC TouchMix16) has a little usb wifi dongle that I'm presuming is quite cheap and nasty. And if it's operating in the 2.4GHz band, then that is now quite crowded and noisy. Fortunately, you can plug a usb-ethernet dongle in and plug into a proper router (apparently), so I think it's time to go that route. So I'm looking at getting a small, portable wifi router that we can use. IIRC, I'm sure someone round here has mentioned using an Apple Airport Express as a portable wifi router. Any other units that we like? Also, any alternatives? Is it more stable to plug directly into a device over proper ethernet?
Any help will be apprecited.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
