Follow the steps in the tutorial now to read the key. You should get Status 0x72 (tell me what DosFlash gives you).
Don't forget to connect all the pogo pin jumper cables along with a 20ohm resistor. Use the tiny silver-pointed end of the needle to touch the contact points on the DVD drive. Make sure the SATA cable is connected.
Once the cuts have been made, no program is supposed to recognize your drive unless you turn on the CK3 and use the pogo pins.

Keep holding down on the positive point using the needle on the red pogo pin jumper. Don't worry about the negative. Be sure you are not mixing up the points and that you are touching it properly.
See if after turning on and connecting up everything provided with the kit will allow the BIOS/CMOS/POST to detect it.
EDIT: Also I think the negative has to be cut correctly along with the positive trace. I guess you need to make them deeper. Make sure you don't accidentally cut the pad off or any other bus lines on the PCB board, apart from the one you are supposed to cut deep.
