I've got my 83850c V2 DVD key and OFW. I repaired the traces and verified that my LiteOn 83850c V2 drive is good by leaving the OFW on the drive and plugging it back into to the console and was able to go online and play games from disk.
I really have no desire in playing games online. Now the questions.
1) How do I get/verify the latest system updates?
2) I have a Benq drive, but from what I've read I have to wait for the Benq 1.7 LT before I can spoof it as my 83850c V2 correct? So my only option now would be to use 1.61 ix if I want to leave my 83850c V2 @ stock and use the Benq to spoof the liteon?
3) I want to confirm that getting status 0x52 on the 83850c V2 with OFW is expected until I erase the OFW.
As a noob I am scared to mess with the 83850c V2 OFW and would like to verify that I truly do have a good DVD Key and OFW dump before erasing the 83850c V2 OFW and thus sparing the community and myself the pain of any f-ups and follow-on questions.
I have and have read the JF 1.7b how-to pdf.

1. Enable Auto-sign into Live on your profile and reboot your console. Or just sign into an Xbox Live profile and a message will pop-up message. The latest Dashboard is 2.0.8955.0 (go to My Xbox -> System Settings -> Console Settings -> System Info to see the version number).
2. It's easy to spoof any drive:
- Load latest JungleFlasher 0.70b Build 86.
- Select the 256KB firmware .bin dump from your old 83850v2, and place this into the Source firmware window.
- Select the ix161-benq.bin file into Target firmware window for your new drive.
- Select the Spoof Source to Target button.
- Head over to MTK Flash 32 tab.
- Follow the easy steps in the JungleFlasher tutorial to flash a BenQ.
But BenQ LT might be coming out soon so you can wait. You should have bought a new Lite-On instead of a new BenQ, so you would have the option of flashing to iXtreme LT for Lite-On immediately. You can replace your BenQ and get a Lite-On instead if you don't want to wait.
3. Since you did the dump in DosFlash, redump it now in the latest JungleFlasher (you can always keep multiple copies of your 256KB .bin file onto separate storage devices). Don't forget to let go off the GND pin before reading.
