I bought v3 connectivity kit and i do not seem to understand anything about it....
do i have to do tracecuts with v3 kit? how does the USB probe works? whats the idea behind
the sata wafer kit included in the package.

any care to direct in me in the right direction, i wanna do my homework before i make any trace
cuts or do any damage to my drive.

its definately very helpful, Now i need to know how can i make this thing to eject my drive? its not doing that at all, when i turn on for the 1st time in the whole setup, all LEDs are suppose to be red or green? please advise, thanks for your help

The "SATA wafer thing" is a connectivity kit for the XBOX 360 HDD. You can use either SATA or USB. Doesn't mater.

The Molex cables from the power supply goes into the CK3. The SATA cables goes into the motherboard or a PCI device.
Connect both ends of the DVD power cable in the correct position using your fingernails. There's a button on the CK3 to eject the drive. Make sure you switch on the CK3 to the ON position.

I have this kit as well. I am trying to extract the key from the following:
Benq (I assume because the wires are white)
Model: DG-16D2S
Manufac. Date: March 2008
FW Ver: 74850C
I am using a laptop: Windows Vista, USB 2.0 to Sata adaptor, this kit and I have an Intel chipset. I tried JungleFlasher v0.1.73 Beta and iPrep and I cannot figure out what is wrong. I have read all of the tutorials and I am stumped. I cannot find an application that will recognize the drive.

I did open up the drive and I noticed something is missing by the R707 spot. I have taken a picture of the board and posted it. Could this be the reason JF does not see the drive?

If the drive was able to work in your 360, then it can be detected. Make sure your CK3 kit is on and connectivity is OK to and from your PC. The R707 spot should be fine, use the USB extractor to touch the correct point with JungleFlasher.

Hi,
First, thank you for your help. I appreciate the time you take to reply to my request. Second, I am still having drive detection issues. I followed the instructions in the tutorial and JF does not see the drive. I have four I/O ports (on a laptop) and none of them have detected the drive. I have four ports 0x01F0, 0x01F0, 0x0170, 0x0170. I am thinking the ports are duplicated because I am on a laptop. Is that correct?
What could be the problem? JF has to see the drive prior to my attempt to flash it. Two of the ports have, "No Drive Detected." I have clicked the refresh drive properties button but nothing changes. It still states, "No Drive Detected."
When I start up Jf it does detect 1 Com port. I am sure it is for the probe. There are no error messages in the beginning of the Jf start up.
So, the circuits that are missing above the R708, R707 and R709 slots have no impact on extracting the key? What am I missing?

There are duplicate ports because both master/slave is considered as one port. The very first port is what you normally should chose if you connected the SATA cable to channel 1.
Your drive was working previously in the 360. But can't the drive at least be detected during POST/CMOS/BIOS? That's the first step before launching Windows. Be sure your CK3/SATA cable connectivity is proper before restarting your computer. Also, firmware has to be on the DVD drive for Windows to detect it. As long as it was able to work inside your 360, the BIOS should at least be able to detect it as a first step.

Ah, my drive would not eject. So, it was not working properly. After a little research I noticed three missing circuits on the Liteon board. Thus, I am trying to flash a different drive to get my console up and running again. However, I cannot retrieve the key because Jf will cannot detect the drive.
I know I am missing something. I have walked through the tutorial. The I/O port cannot see it.

Yes, the PCB still remains working. What controls ejecting are those IDE/SATA-looking cables hooked up to the PCB and the wires. Dumping/flashing still works. You can only eject after all cables/wires are hooked up, doesn't prevent you from dumping/flashing.

Okay, so I got the drive to eject by making a patch on the DVD mother board. However, jf still does not recognize the device. The device manager sees it as a USB Mass Storage Device with a Code 10. It cannot start the device. I need help.

One more thing, when the drive is in the Xbox the power button keeps blinking after booting up to the dashboard. What does that mean?

The drive has no power or has not been flashed with iXtreme firmware. Make sure your drive can be detected in CMOS/POST/BIOS.
Also check your connections...

Be sure that you connect your DVD drive power cables properly to the CK3 kit as well the SATA cables. Once you turn on the computer, the CK3 should light up. Press either F1/F2/Delete/Del to go into the BIOS/CMOS. It look something like this but may be different - http://www.overkillsystems.com/pr3ach3r/HM2PICS/CMOS.gif
If you have a VIA PCI SATA card, it will show this during POST in a black/white screen. You should see LiteOn DG-16D2S
If you don't see this, then your drive is damaged. If you do see this, then a wire on the LiteON PCB is loose/broken, or you forgot to plug back in the IDE/SATA-looking cables back into PCB properly. Remember you have to pull the little notch to put the cables in, and then you have to push in the notch to close it. You are going to have to reopen the drive and check for any loose cables/wires on the PCB.

Okay, I do not see it. So the drive is damaged. I think those missing circuits by R707 do play a factor in this jf mess. I do not see it when I hit F2 in BIOS. Any suggestions? I think I got a paper weight now.

I think the drive can't be damaged since it would mean that your 360 had it in it originally when it was purchased and when you were playing games on it. Are you flashing a drive for someone?
If your LiteOn was damaged and missing circuits, how does it work when it was already inside it during purchase? Don't ask anybody to flash your own drive, except yourself. They may damage it.

No, I bought this used on eBay with the seal intact. However, I am beginning to think the seal was broken and they lied and threw in a DVD without a key code firmware.
My main problem is I have followed the tutorials, installed all of the drivers and jf does not see the drive at all. I even followed the one below. However, all of them stump me at the same spot. When I start Jf there is not error message and it cannot see the drive. In the device manager, MS sees the drive as a USB Mass Storage device with a Code 10 error.
