Laser printer with cheap toner and no issues?

We had an HP printer but the toners are incredibly expensive. So we started buying "pirate" toners, but we have frequent problems because of the "chip" issue. Does anyone know if there is some brand of quality laser printers that don't have such expensive toners? or that don't use that blessed chip that causes so many problems with the recycled toners?
