Using TUMPA to read/write via SPI

Hi,
I've recently bought the TUMPA adapter (still waiting for it to get it via post) and I'm planning to read/write via USB from Linux/Windows 7 to SPI port.
Could any of you please tell me if that is even possible and what would be the steps in layman terms?
I've took a quick look at the forums for SPI and found just some unhappy customers and not much details.
Please bear in mind that I'm a software engineer, not much accustomed to hardware parlance.

Which device are you going to flash?

I don't intend to flash any device. I want to use it to communicate with a RaspberryPi via the SPI interface.

OK. There are two SPI connectors (pin headers) on the TUMPA's board: SPI1, which is connected to the FT2232H's A interface, and SPI2, which is connected to the chip's B interface. Both can be used to communicate. The default interface is A.

A bit late to the party, but check out my post (when it is approved). Using documentation from FTDI I managed to get there.
