Question before buy the TUMPA module
fanlatulip
Hello,
I am very interested in the tumpa interface. I first try to use an FTDI4232 with an interface but we can't use it from windows threw the COM Port. So I need to bought another card.
I would like to know if it is possible with this card to send data threw the com port in SPI/JTAG/I2C mode ?
If I received this card, Do I have to
program it
in order to use it in SPI/I2C/JTAG mode (with FT_PROG) or evrything is already done? Is there a switch on the board ?
Maybe those question will be basic for you but I can't find the information on the manual user (this manual doesn't speak about where plug I2C --> Do we have to suggest that it is the same port as SPI).
I would like to have a module where I don't need to program it or flash it evrytime I will use it. For example, If i use it to make USB --> SPI, I don't want to flash it again the next time I will use it.
Thank you

You do NOT need to program it. It is already programmed and its configuration is done (with FT_PROG) before shipping.

But with FT-Prog, the only choice that we have are the same as when we plug an FT2232H ? (on FT_PROG) :
VCP
D2XX
RiRS245
Where do you plus the I2C ? ont the SPI port ?

Ok. Thank you very very much!
I will buy it.
Just one more question : if the default configuration of the card is changed, is it possible to put it back ? (with FT_PROG)?
[deleted]
Yes, of course

How ? Is there a reset ?
Thank you

As far as I know; with FT_PROG.
I recommend backing up all settings before changing with FT_PROG. If there is no option to backup, you can take screenshots and save them for further reference.
If you don't have backup of default configuration and do not know default settings, you can ask TIAO corp. for it, and then they will send you default settings.
