Problem with the probe

I got problem with my usb extractor. I downloaded and installed the usb extractor driver and rebooted my PC (following the tutorial). Then I plug my usb extractor into one of the usb port, it should be recognized by my computer as what tutorial says. However my pc didn't recognize the probe. I can't find any new device in my device manager after plug it in. Of course I failed to extract my key when I tried to do that.

Is my extractor defected? What is normal when people plug the usb extractor into computer?

Sorry, forgot to mention that:
OS: Win 7 64bit or Vista 64 bit (I installed the driver on both OS and tested the probe, same result)
Xbox drive: Lite On 7xxxx series
the extractor is part of the "Xbox 360 Connectivity Kit V3 and Ultimate Liteon USB Solderless Key Extractor Combo"

You can check for continuity existing between the USB extractor needle and the USB connector using a multimeter.
